Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 11, 2026

THRIVE ("we," "us," or "our") is a community platform operated by BLK Men in Tech Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. THRIVE is a white-label product; each community or organization that uses THRIVE operates its own space within the app. This policy covers the core THRIVE platform and applies to all users regardless of which organization they belong to.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account data. Your name, email address, authentication identifiers, and (when you provide it) profile photo, bio, social links, and city hub preferences.
  • Content data. Posts, comments, direct messages, event RSVPs, media uploads, reactions, and other material you create within the app.
  • Device data. Device model, operating system version, language, time zone, app version, push notification tokens, and crash or error diagnostics.
  • Usage data. Features used, screens viewed, actions taken (e.g., joining a hub, RSVPing to an event), and session timestamps.
  • Payment data. If you make donations or purchase a paid tier, payment is processed by our third-party processors (Zeffy for non-profit organizations, Stripe for others). We do not store full card numbers or banking details. We receive limited transaction metadata (amount, status, subscription tier).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the THRIVE app.
  • To personalize your experience, including recommending events, members, and content.
  • To send transactional messages (sign-in links, push notifications you opt in to, service announcements).
  • To process donations and subscription payments through Zeffy or Stripe.
  • To run optional AI-powered career tools (resume review, job matching, interview prep) through trusted AI inference providers. Your inputs to these tools are sent to the provider to generate a response and are not used to train third-party models.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of community guidelines.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only with:

  • Other members of your organization. Content you post publicly within your organization's space (profile, posts, events, hubs) is visible to other members of that organization.
  • Service providers. We use Supabase for database and authentication, Cloudflare for hosting, AWS SES/Resend for email, Expo for push notifications, Zeffy and Stripe for payments, and OpenRouter (for AI inference) — each under contractual obligations to handle your data responsibly.
  • Your organization's admins. Designated admins of your organization can see aggregate analytics and moderate content within their community space.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of members and the public.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and correction. You can view and edit your profile data in Settings at any time.
  • Deletion. You can delete your account from Settings, which removes your profile, posts, and messages from active use. Some content may remain in backups for a limited retention period before being purged.
  • Export. Email [email protected] to request a copy of your data.
  • Push notifications. You can disable notifications in your device settings or inside the app.
  • California, EU/UK, and similar jurisdictions. If you are in a jurisdiction with enhanced privacy rights (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, UK GDPR), you have the right to request access, deletion, correction, or portability of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

5. Data Retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Deleted accounts are purged from active databases within 30 days and from backups within 90 days.

6. Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest for sensitive fields, role-based access control, and strict row-level security in our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we continually review and improve our safeguards.

7. Children

THRIVE is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact [email protected] and we will delete it.

8. International Users

THRIVE is operated from the United States. If you use THRIVE from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
